Emily and Fritz Harrell purchased land with an existing agricultural conservation easement in place located in North Perry Village

“The agricultural easement greatly affected our decision in purchasing our property – we knew we wanted land to build our forever home, and in addition to that, land that cannot be developed on. Our residential acre is surrounded by beautiful farmland and woods. Our 20 acres are protected by this easement and the public benefits are endless – environmental quality, taxing at the agricultural value (not full market value), charitable deductions, historic preservation, wildlife habitats, and the overall protection of our land. The agricultural use and conservation value of the land is also protected.

Having an easement on our property has definitely piqued the interest of our family, and friends! They have wanted more information and often ask us how everything with the easement works. We have our own protected oasis – right here in Lake County!”
