BOG BIRCH Betula pumila Also called Swamp Birch or Dwarf Birch, This shrubby wetland species is common in the upper Midwest, but considered threatened in Ohio. This species prefers sunny to lightly-shaded sites and wet soils with a neutral to alkaline pH.Â
