SILVER MAPLE Acer saccharinum This species will make short work of establishing shade along a stream bank or that wet spot in your yard. Provides a source of leaf litter and is a favorite nesting tree of orioles, but not of deer or spongy moths.
RIGHT PLANT RIGHT PLACE!
Silver maples have a bad reputation of brittle wood, taking ice and snow damage, and aggressive roots. Take advantage of this species pros of fast shade and soil stabilization by planting it away from built and buried infrastructure.
