Product Description

PIN CHERRY Prunus pensylvanica This cherry species is a fast-growing, short-lived small tree or shrub found in sunny, dry sites. Its shiny red twigs and bark, white spring flowers, and brilliant orange red fall foliage make it an attractive tree in all seasons. Also called bird cherry for its bird-sized bright red summer fruits that are favored by wildlife. These fruits can also be made into jam. Its other moniker, fire cherry, is because it often colonizes burned areas, and serves as a nurse tree for future forests.
